Oleksandr Menshov

Biography

He graduated from the Faculty of Geology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 2005 with a degree in geophysics (master's degree with honours). From 2005 to 2008, he studied in a full-time postgraduate programme at the Department of Geophysics, and in 2008, he defended his thesis on ‘Magnetisation of Typomorphic Soils in Ukraine’ (supervised by Associate Professor Sukhorada A.V.). From 2008 to 2014, he held various positions in the research department of the Faculty of Geology. In 2014-2015, he was an expert and senior researcher at NCP "Horizon 2020". From 2012 to 2014, he headed the Department of International Cooperation at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. From 2014 to 2017, he was a doctoral student at the Department of Geophysics of the Institute of Geology. In 2017, he defended his doctoral thesis on ‘The Theory and Methodology of Applying Soil Cover Magnetism in Geology, Ecology, and Soil Science’ (scientific advisor: Professor Vyzhva S.A.). Since 2018, he has been a senior research fellow at the Institute of Geology and teaches part-time at the departments of geophysics and geoinformatics.
A renowned expert in the field of soil cover geophysics and magnetism of natural objects, he regularly participates in international conferences and seminars, and his scientific works are published in both domestic and foreign professional journals. He is the author of more than 160 scientific publications, including those included in the Scopus and Web of Science scientometric databases. He is the author of patent No. 102735 dated 12 August 2013 for the invention "Method of atmospheric magnetic control of the environment".
